Check this out, all you people who agree that death should include some life.

Isola-do-San-Michele_cemeteryThis is a cemetery on an island in Venice, Isola di San Michele. Look at how beautiful it is! I’m not even a cemetery person, but this is just glorious. Read an interesting review of a visit there by A Passport Affair (which also is the photo credit). (Very cool travel stuff on A Passport Affair, btw.)

There are no live residents of the island, only deceased. But those deceased are lovingly and enthusiastically honored and celebrated with continual upkeep, decoration, and fresh flowers, through frequent visits (via vaporetto, or waterbus) by the living.

When I look at this picture, I just see life.

LIFE, vitality, memories, celebrations… honoring our favorite, but departed, people with joy and tender loving care.
