It’s a sad fact that most of us don’t plan our Goodbyes in advance, despite their general inevitability. Thinking about what you want and writing it down can seem intimidating or morbid, but nothing could be further from the truth. I’m going on record (yes, of course I am biased, but somebody around here has to speak the truth) to say that once you get the over the hump of fear or awkwardness, it’s fascinating, it’s liberating, it’s inspiring, and I guarantee you’ll see your goodbye service/party/ritual/celebration/show-down shindig/quiet minimalist affair in a whole new light of joy, peace, and acceptance.

You may be ready or you may still be evading, but stay in the game. Be open to the possibility that planning your own Goodbye in advance has rewards that will delight you. Whenever you’re ready, and there’s no hurry. Probably, anyway.
